Austrian Open 2009

About 800 participants, 33 nations, a tenth place for the Austrian Team – for the Austrian Taekwondo Federation the Austrian Open 2009 were a big success.
Whereas last year many participants in the Olympic Games and medalists of World and European Championships took part, this year the Austrian Open were especially interesting for the junior fighters. The best young Taekwondo athletes from Europe met in Innsbruck to prepare for the European Championships for juniors and cadets.
The most successful Austrian player in Innsbruck was Kurt Atalar, who won his second A-Class tournament after his gold medal at the Croatia Open.
Best team was the German National Team, followed by Croatian, Spain and Chinese Taipeh.

30th Belgian Open

On April 18th and 19th the city of Herentals was again the place to be for many taekwondo athletes. For the 30th time the Belgian Open was organized and for that reason the organizing Committee created a special present for every athlete. A pin was given to every athlete after he/she had a successful weigh-in.

This year, the organizers had the honour to welcome the national teams of Poland, Great Britain, Croatia, Israel, Danmark, Slovenia, Sweden and Georgia. For the first time after many years, the national team of Iran attended the championship. The team won the trophy for best national team. This trophy was awarded to them by Mr. Soo-Nam Park and Mr. Steve Grommen, the new president of the Flemish Taekwondo Union.

Once again, the organization of the tournament was flawless. This is only possible with the help of a lot of people. The coordinators who work for the federation make sure that all preparations are made beforehand. During the weekend of the tournament some 40 people from different clubs of the Flemish Taekwondo Union work together and they have only one goal: making the organization of the Belgian Open Taekwondo a successful one!

The federation can be proud to having organized for the 30th time a successful Belgian Open and will try everything to continue this way the next years.
